Tree Pruning

Tri-Alta Tree Care believes in proper tree prunning practices that allow our customers to get the most satisfaction from their trees for many years to come. 

One of these practices include knowing the amount of branches that can be pruned without putting stress on the tree. 

Another practice is to prune back a branch to a correct sized lateral to promote proper growth, while reducing the overall weight of the limb.

It's also important to understand the various times of the year to prune certain species, because not all trees are the same.

Your trees might serve you a different purpose than our other customers. For example; you might use yours for shade, while others use theirs to act as a wind row, and some might simply enjoy it for the birds.

Your tree could have sentimental meaning because a relative planted it, or it was part of a special occasion long ago.

We were once contacted to look at an Ash tree in the Lethbridge area. We determined the tree had a severe frost crack extending to a large branch over top of a brand new patio. We recommended bringing in one of our team members to remove the cracked limb immediately. Our customers had a special attachment to the tree and let us know it was a tough decision to remove the hazardous limb, but would let us know their decision by next day. We received a phone call early the next morning that the tree limb had broken off during the night. We arrived on site to see damage to the deck and an unrepairable tear, down the whole side of the trunk.

We unfortunately had to remove the rest of the tree. 

This is a really rare scenario, which is why we thought we'd share it with you.
